Tribunal Set Up for Saddam Trial

A new tribunal was set up to try former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein. The Iraqi National Congress has named a general director of the tribunal, seven judges and several prosecutors. It also allocated a budget of USD 75 M for 2004-2005, but did not set a date for the trial to begin. The court will decide the charges he will face, which could include genocide and crimes against humanity. Saddam was captured by US troops in December and has since been held by American forces at an undisclosed location.
