WB WITH NEW $50 M LOAN FOR BG

The World Bank is putting together a new project in aid of BG agriculture. The ASAL-2 loan is to be approved by the WB Board of Directors May 29. The $50 million loan is intended to spur the growth of BG agriculture and better the living standards in rural regions by improving the competitiveness of the domestic farming sector. ASAL-2 will also assist BG in its bid for EU membership. In 1998 the BG government started a broad range of reforms within the ASAL-1 loan with the assistance of the WB. According to WB the ASAL-1 loan was successfully utilized.
