Turkey's Ruling Party Sweeps Elections

Turkey's governing Justice and Development Party won a sweeping victory in local elections on Sunday, with more than 40 percent support nationwide, results showed. Many political analysts said the stabilizing financial policies of the governing party had paved the way for its success in the elections, which selected local government officials for five-year terms.Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at a news conference that his party's success "will only increase our responsibilities."
