WORLD BANK, IMF EXPERTS TO ASSESS FINANCIAL SECTOR

The Bulgarian Minister of Finance Milen Velchev met representatives of the International Monetary Fund /IMF/ and the World Bank /WB/ in connection with the joint Financial Sector Assessment Programme /FSAP/ of the two financial institutions, Pari Daily wrote. The Bulgarian Government was included in the group of countries to be assessed in 2001. A mission of FSAP is to analyse and assess the Bulgarian financial system as well as the connection between the stability of the financial sector and the achievement of the macroeconomic indicators. The mission is to finish its work by November 14. The results of the joint mission of the IMF and the WB will be used for drafting a broad strategy for strengthening and future development of the financial sector in Bulgaria.
