Serbia has marked the one-year anniversary of the assassination of Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic with renewed commitments to fight organised crime and push ahead with pro-Europe reform. Memorial plaques were laid outside the government building where Mr Djindjic was shot by a mafia sniper on March 12 last year and in the Trg Republika, Belgrade's central square. Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica, who took power earlier this month after December elections, vowed to step up the fight against organised crime networks which allegedly plotted Djindjic's murder.
