UDF LEADER ASKS TO MEET PM AFTER GOVERNOR`S ATTACK

Politics | October 28, 2001, Sunday // 00:00

The Chairman of the Varna Municipality Council Steliyan Sevastiyanov was beaten very badly and seriously injured on October 27. The Police investigate the case. Most probably the reason for the attack is that economic interests were harmed. It can also be explained with the hate that exists between the United Democratic Forces (UDF) fractions in Varna, considering the fact that this is the third incident with UDF leader for a month in the seaside city. The UDF leader Ekaterina Mihailova asked for a meeting with Prime Minister Saxe-Coburg because of the numerous incidents that recently have taken place with UDF leaders. At a special press conference, the Varna UDF leaders condemned the attack.
