Former Haitian President Accuses US of Coup

Former Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide said Monday he was forced to leave Haiti in a "coup d'etat" by the United States. I was told that to avoid bloodshed I'd better leave," he said in an interview on CNN. Earlier the allegations of abduction were furiously denied by the Bush administration. Meanwhile huge crowds welcomed rebels into the Haitian capital as US and French troops started a peacekeeping mission to restore calm after the departure of President Jean Bertrand Aristide.
