Chaos Grips Haiti's Capital as Rebels Close in Deadly violence and looting gripped Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince as rebels are closing in and threaten to attack the city. Photo by AFP

Haiti's capital Port-au-Prince has been struck by panic as rebels, pressing for President Jean Bertrand Aristide to step down, seized yet another city. In the capital, barricades are being built around the presidential palace, as rebellious gangs are roaming the city in anticipation of an attack from the outside. Several people have already been killed, and the US insisted that violence had to be quelled. The President, however, seems firm on not stepping away from his post.
