US Ryan Anderson, a National Guardsman based in the state of Washington, was arrested on suspicion that he tried to contact al-Qaeda terrorist network on the internet and sell military information to them, world media reported. The soldier, aged 26, was arrested following a joint surveillance operation involving the US army, the state Justice Department and the FBI. Anderson was part of an Iraq-bound unit. According to Pentagon information, the young man, said to have adopted the Islam a few years ago, entered extremist chatrooms in an aim to contact members of Osama Bin Laden's al-Qaeda network, which has claimed responsibility for the bloody September 11 attacks in New York.
