A team from the United Nations (UN) is on a meeting with Lakhdar Brahimi, spiritual leader of the Shia Muslims in Iraq, to discuss the possibility of holding early elections in the country. After two-hour talks, they agreed on the need for direct elections. However, an exact date for the poll to take place was not specified. The Shia people make for about 60% of Iraq's population, and are said to be prone to the idea for directs elections. Thus, the result would reflect their numeral dominance.
