Kerry Winner in 5 out of 7 US States

Senator John Kerry tightened his hold on the Democratic presidential nomination with five victories in a seven state contest but was denied a complete sweep by challengers John Edwards and Wesley Clark. Kerry won the Democratic presidential caucus in the southwestern state of New Mexico on Tuesday, adding to wins in Arizona, Delaware, Missouri and North Dakota to add to his triumphs in New Hampshire and Iowa last month, according to television projections. Only 269 nominating delegates were at stake Tuesday, an eighth of the total needed for the party nod at its July convention in Boston.
