`Following the Foreign Ministry`s quick reaction, the problem of the three Bulgarian journalists in the Afghani village of Astana has been solved,` the Foreign Ministry announced. Astana is located in the valley of Pandjshir, controlled by President Rabbani`s internationally recognized government. The journalists were taken to the house of a high-ranking Afghani official in the town of Ruha. The three Bulgarians are in good physical state. According to latest information, they flew with a helicopter of the Government to Talokan, the main city in the government-controlled territories, from where they are to be transported to Dushanbe, the capital of Tadzhikistan. The Foreign Ministry expressed gratitude to Charge d`Affaire of the Afghan Embassy in Sofia Mohammad Fasil Saifi and the competent Afghan authorities for their understanding and quick reaction. `In the spirit of the traditionally good relations between our two countries [the Afghan authorities and the Afghan Charge d`Affaire] a preferential approach was used to solve the problem with the Bulgarian journalists, and to their overall treatment on Afghan territory,` the press release reads. 24 Hours Daily`s special correspondent to Afghanistan Georgi Milkov said on October 21 that three Bulgarians and another 30 journalists from France, Russia, Germany, India and Japan had been taken hostages three days ago in a house north of Kabul. The information was not confirmed by the correspondent of Dnevnik Daily. The Afghan Ambassador to Sofia said that the information that the Bulgarian journalists had been detained was `incorrect.`
