Bulgaria "Might Start Power Imports" 2006
Bulgaria might need to start power imports in 2006 as a result from closing units 3,4 of its only nuclear power plant, Ivan Hinovski of the Bulgarian Energy Forum said Friday.
After the two reactors are shut down, mainly heating plants will be used for producing energy, and they are not environment-friendly, Hinovski also underlined.
Bulgaria has agreed to close the two 440-megawatt reactors by the end of 2006 under pressure from the EU. Many experts and politicians, however, are still opposing the decision, insisting that it would prompt an economic crisis in the country.
