Fifteen peopel mostly children, were killed and 11 others injured after a powerful explosion in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar on Tuesay morning. Witnesses said the blast ripped through a truck parked opposite a military base in the center of the city. Kandahar is the former stronghold of Afghanistan's ousted Taliban, which has declared a "jihad" or holy war on foreign and government troops and aid workers.
