Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov has been awarded a second time Best Politician of 2003 after a voting organized by local Darik Radio. He scored up 48 % of the votes, leaving behind the other nominees, including Sofia Mayor Stefan Sofianski, Foreign Minister Solomon Passy and Finance Minister Milen Velchev.

The nominations had been made by 100 leading Bulgarian media, and the voting was carried out both online and by phone.

According to the results in the Top Event of the year category, first place is given to crime, "big wheels" criminal war and ostentatious murders in Bulgaria. Some 25 % of the voters ranked the Iraqi crisis on first place, followed by 17 % of the votings for local elections, which took place in October.

The appraisal of the Bulgarian head of state comes second in a year after he swept this year's Man of the Year prize given out by Club M magazine. At a ceremony in the end November he received a unique, hand-made sword.
