Ousted Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, who was captured in a US raid last Saturday after a months-long hunt, was betrayed by his personal bodyguard, Jordan's Al-Arab Al-Yom daily, cited by the AFP, says. The former dictator was captured while hiding in a mud hut basement near his hometown of Tikrit. There were some reports that the US soldiers used nerve gas in the operation, and also that a former officer from the Iraqi special services had betrayed the ousted president. The Jordanian newspaper, however, insists that Saddam's guard disclosed his hiding place to the US troops, and even led them to the site himself.
