Lithuanian Parliament Ready to Impeach President

Lithuanian parliamentarians collected enough signatures to impeach President Rolandas Paksas over accusations he has links with organised crime, the country's Prime Minister Algirdas Brazauskas announced. Legislators moved to impeach Paksas, who won an upset victory in January over Valdas Adamkus, after a report adopted by parliament two weeks ago accused him of having crime links, which made him "a threat to Lithuanian national security".
