Fourty-one US soldiers and six Iraqi civilians were injured after a car bomb exploded outside at the entrance to the barracks in a northern Iraqi town, US Army said. The blast occured when a car drove through a gate to the base of 3rd Brigade of 101 Airborne division early Tuesday at Tal Afar, about 50 kilometers west of Mosul. The injuries were mostly caused by flying debris and none were life threatening. Officials say US troops opened fire on the vehicle after it failed to stop at an entry point. The vehicle then exploded.
