Nicaragua's Ex-President Jailed for Corruption

Nicaragua's former President Arnoldo Aleman has been sentenced to 20 years behind bars over corruption charges. The former state leader was found guilty of money-laundering, fraud, embezzlement and electoral crimes, judicial officials said. Aleman was also accused of using almost USD 100 M for his party's election campaign. He held Nicaragua's presidential post from 1997 until 2002, and was arrested last December.
