Palestinians Open New Truce Talks

Palestinian militant groups meeting in Cairo have opened formal talks aimed at reaching agreement on a conditional ceasefire with Israel. The talks come as the authors of an unofficial Middle East peace plan begin lobbying for support in the US. A ceasefire is key to reviving stalled peace moves and ending violence. Israel's deputy defence minister said Israel could scale back military operations in the West Bank and Gaza if a ceasefire was agreed.
