At least 18 people were killed and more than 50 others wounded in almost simultaneous suicide bombings against two police stations north of the capital. At least six officers were killed and 13 more were known to have been wounded in the small town of Khan Bani Saad when the bomber rammed a car packed with explosives into their base. In Baquba, the provincial capital further north, a suicide bomber charged a police station minutes later in an almost identical attack.
