Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Solomon Passy awarded Wednesday US Ambassador Pardew a special medal on the occasion of the 100 Years of Diplomatic Relations between the U.S. and Bulgaria. In his speech Minister Passy pointed out that on November 12 1980 the Voyager 1 spacecraft came closest to the Saturn and sent unique pictures back to the earth. The craft carried a time capsule in the form of a golden gramophone record, complete with stylus, which contains a recording of greetings from Earth in different languages as well as samples of music ranging, including a song of Bulgarian folklore singer Valya Balkanska. In this way the friendship between Bulgaria and the United States reached the furthest border ever reached by humanity, the minister said.
