Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has agreed to meet political rival President Chandrika Kumaratunga, but flatly rejected her proposal for a unity government, a spokesman said. Wickremesinghe also accused the president of damaging the peace process with Tamil rebels with her decision last week to sack three ministers and suspend parliament, triggering a political crisis. Kumaratunga Monday invited the prime minister to discuss her offer of a government of national unity as a way out of the power struggle between the two leaders.
