Two activists of the opposition bloc Saakashvili-National Movement went on hunger strike in one of the wings of the Georgian parliament's building demanding the resignation of President Eduard Shevardnadze, ITAR-TASS said. A protest rally continued throughout the night in the square in front of the parliament building, despite a hard rain. The opposition demands Shevardnadze's resignation and claims that it is the winner of the November 2 parliamentary elections. Late on Monday night Shevardnadze said in a televised interview, quoted by France Presse, that he would not yield to street pressure.
