A US army helicopter crashed into a riverbank near Saddam Hussein 's hometown of Tikrit, killing six US soldiers, the military said. Another American was killed and nine were wounded in attacks in the northern city of Mosul, raising concerns that the insurgency was spreading north. A U.S. army spokeswoman said the cause was still being investigated but soldiers in Tikrit said the Black Hawk helicopter was probably hit by a rocket-propelled grenade. Separately, guerrillas attacked a convoy in the eastern part of Mosul with rocket-propelled grenades and small-arms fire Friday morning. The military said one US soldier died and six others were wounded in the clash.
