`No event in Bulgaria’s political life can derail the country from its way to NATO membership or hamper the Bulgarian Army reform, Bulgarian President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Petur Stoyanov said on October 15. He participated in the celebration that marked the Day of the Air Force and the anniversary of the world’s first combat flight by a Bulgarian plane in 1912. He pointed out that both the country and the Alliance will benefit from Bulgaria’s NATO membership. `During the preparations for the 2002 NATO summit it is the duty of the military aviators to show that the reform in the army is an irreversible process,` Stoyanov said.
