Several people had been arrested in connection with Sunday's attack outside the central Baghdad Hotel, the coalition spokesman Charles Heatly announced on Monday, one day after the blast. The death toll rose to eight, including at least one suspected suicide bomber. In a separate development AP cited a U.S. officer as saying that Saddam Hussein has been hiding in his hometown Tikrit and is believed to be exerting influence within the resistance that has been killing American soldiers at a rate of nearly one every two days.
