Strong Earthquake Jolts Northern Japan

Several strong earthquakes, included one of magnitude 6.3, shook Japan's northern island of Hokkaido on Wednesday and Thursday. No injured people or material damages have been reported. More than 700 people were injured in the powerful earthquake that rattled the country less than two weeks ago. A researcher at the Japan Marine Science and Technology Center predicted the region could be hit by a quake similar to the magnitude 8 one that slammed Hokkaido on Sept. 27.
