BILL PROTECTS PERSONAL DATA

Employers, banks, insurance and educational institutions will inquire into citizens` personal data only after registration and permission by a commission. This is provided by the new protection of personal data bill, adopted by the Bulgarian parliament on October 11. A special commission on the protection of personal data will be established. The members of the commission will be selected by the Parliament. Information on race, ethnic group, political or religious affiliation and health condition will be disclosed only after a written permission is granted.
