Air France, KLM Merge

Air France is to form a partnership with KLM of the Netherlands in a deal knocking British Airways from its perch as Europe's biggest airline. The Ј3.5bn deal means the new Air France-KLM will also become the world's third-biggest carrier in terms of traffic. Air France is currently Europe's second-largest, and KLM is the fourth. A combination of the two would dwarf BA. Talks between the two have been going on for more than a year.
