Lindh Murder Detainee Released, Another Suspect Held

Swedish police released Monday a man that was held September 16 on suspicion of murdering Foreign Minister Anna Lindh. However, on the same day they announced a fresh arrest. The new suspect was reportedly arrested "without incident", but police did not reveal his name or the circumstances of his detention. Sweden's police have been anxious to avoid a repeat of the failure to solve the 1986 murder case of Prime Minister Olof Palme, which happened only a few blocks away from the scene of Lindh's murder in a department store.
