JAPAN DONATES FUNDS TO SOFIA PHILHARMONIC

Bulgarian Foreign Minister Solomon Passy and the Japanese Ambassador in Sofia Akira Matsui exchanged notes for 50 M yen donation from the Japanese Government to the Sofia Philharmonic. The donation will be spent on purchase of musical instruments and sound-recording equipment. After the signing of the documents, the Japanese Ambassador said that the donation reaffirms the traditionally good bilateral relations. Since 1991, Japan has provided USD 4.2 M as financial aid to the Bulgarian culture. Ambassador Matsui expressed the hope that the assistance will maximize the efficiency of the Bulgarian oldest symphony orchestra.
