Air Crash Kills Russian Governor

Rescuers in the Russian Far East have confirmed the death of the governor of Sakhalin in a helicopter crash. The body of Igor Farkhutdinov was found along with those of 19 others strewn among the remains of the Mi-8 which went missing on Wednesday and there were no survivors. A search helicopter spotted the wreckage near the River Apachan, about 115km to the south-east of the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, on the Kamchatka Peninsula. Farkhutdinov was a key player in regional oil and gas investment and several members of his administration were also aboard the helicopter.
