Quake Hit New Zealand Coast

A massive earth tremor hit a sparsely populated part of New Zealand's South Island Friday. The tremor was felt across a large part of the South Island and power was briefly cut to two small towns, Australia's National Radio reported. Some 60 primary school children staying at a remote hostel at Deep Cove were stranded by a landslide, which blocked a road. However, there are no reports of any serious injuries from the earthquake. Its epicentre was some 70 kilometres west of the tourist resort of Te Anau, New Zealand's Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences said.
