Liberia Chose New Post-War Leader

Government and rebel delegates in Liberia selected businessman Gyude Bryant to head the country's interim post-war administration. Disarmament of Liberia's warring factors will be possible within two years, Bryant said following his appointment. He is the chairman of the Liberia Action Party and also a leading figure in the Episcopal Church, one of Liberia's main religious denominations, and is not seen as a political heavyweight. The new administration is supposed to organize elections in 2005.
