Bulgaria marked August 18 Miner's Day with an archeological exhibition at the building of the Energy Ministry. The exhibits came from mines in Bulgaria's Maritsa Iztok complex where there are also several large thermo-power plants.

Golden accessories and items made of stone, flint and bone are shown at the exhibition as well as pottery dating from around 18-12 century B.C. and fossils.

Some 15,000 Bulgarian workers mark Miner's Day on August 18.

However, working conditions in the mines are unsatisfactory and security level is rather low, Bulgarian miners alarmed Monday. Bulgaria's Chamber of Miners also suggested the establishment of a State Agency for Underground Resources to connect all departments at the different ministries dealing with miners' problems.
