West African Mediators May Suspend Liberian Peace Talks

West African mediators threatened to suspend peace talks on Liberia if the main rebel group does not immediately drop its claims to key posts in a new government, anonymous source close to the talks said Sunday. The talks may be suspended until September, the man also claims. Peace talks were deadlocked over demands by the main rebel group for the posts of vice-president and speaker in a new administration, which is due to take over power in October from an interim government.
