The Israeli security services were on high alert in the Tel Aviv region a day after two Israelis were killed in back-to-back Palestinian suicide bombings, army radio said. Roadblocks were set up and checks tightened in the area located between the Tel Aviv agglomeration and the West Bank, the radio said. The Israeli security services received intelligence about 21 attacks being prepared against Israel, the radio added. On Tuesday two teenage suicide bombers killed two Israelis and wounded 12 others at a shopping mall and West Bank settlement, in the worst attacks since Palestinian militants declared a truce six weeks ago. The twin blasts within 40 minutes of each other posed a serious challenge to US-sponsored peace efforts as William Burns, the top US diplomat for the Middle East, held talks with both sides.
