Unique Bulgarian actor and director Marius Kurkinski was awarded the prestigious annual art prize of the Apolonia foundation.
The award is given for contribution to Bulgaria's culture. It was founded in 1999 marking 15 years since the beginning of the Apolonia summer culture festivities that take place in Black Sea town of Sozopol.
The previous prize-winners are pianist Lyubomir Angelov, actor Itzco Finci, clarinet player Teodosii Spasov and writer Georgi Danailov.
The program of Apolonia Festival of Arts, which takes place annually in the Black Sea town of Sozopol, is topped by jazz, pop and classical music concerts, plastic art exhibitions, book promotions and theatre performances.
The 2003 edition of the festival will kick off August 31 and will end September 10.
The new Balkan project "Telephone booth" directed by Prof. Krikor Azaryan will be presented for the first time at the stage of Apolonia.
Many other Bulgarian artists will present their work during the Apolonia festivities in Sozopol.
