Death Toll at Russian Hospital Reaches 50, Search Ends

Rescuers gave up a two-day search for survivors trapped beneath the rubble of the bombed military hospital at Mozdok in southern Russia, which claimed the lives of at least 50 people. Another 72 wounded in Friday's devastating strike blamed on separatist rebels have been sent to hospitals in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and Rostov-on-Don in southern Russia, AFP reported. Seven more who were too severely hurt to be moved were being treated on the spot in North Ossetia's main town of Mozdok. The head of the hospital has been arrested in the wake of the attack accused of "criminal negligence" and failing to ensure the protection and security of the hospital. Russian defence minister Sergei Ivanov has also suspended the head of the military division overseeing the area.
