Insurgents attacked a convoy with explosives, killing one American soldier, and fatally shot another who was guarding a bank in the Iraqi capital, AP reported. The two American deaths brought the total U.S. personnel killed in combat since the March 20 start of the war to 149 - two more than the 1991 Gulf War total - as anti-U.S. violence persists, including by loyalists of deposed President Saddam Hussein.
