Changes in Bulgaria's Cabinet aim at optimizing the government's work, Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Solomon Passy said following the July 16 announcement of reshuffle in the country's Cabinet.
He also explained that there has been considerable progress in the major priorities of Bulgaria's foreign policy. According to Passy this progress is due to the work of the entire Cabinet.
Passy also said that the appointment of Plamen Panayotov, former floor leader of ruling Simeon II National Movement, would be very useful to Bulgaria's Foreign Ministry and Euro-integration Minister Meglena Kuneva.
Plamen Panayotov entered Bulgaria's Cabinet as deputy prime minister in charge of euro integration.
Bulgaria's Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg announced Wednesday the dismissal of four ministers in his 19-member cabinet - Transport and Communications Minister Plamen Petrov, Education Minister Vladimir Atanasov, Health Care Minister Bozhidar Finkov and Minister Without Portfolio Nedjet Mollov.
This is the first reshuffle of the ex-king's reformist cabinet that took power two years ago. The move comes as opinion polls show a steady trend of plunging government popularity.
