Schroeder Cancels Italy Holiday after Insult

German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder has cancelled his planned holiday in Italy in the wake of anti-German remarks from an Italian government official, Deutsche Welle reported Wednesday. Stefano Stefani, an Italian junior minister responsible for tourism, refused to apologise for describing Germans as "hyper-nationalistic blondes" who invade Italian beaches. Schroeder threatened to cancel his holiday after the remarks and will now spend his holiday in his home town of Hanover.
