BULGARIANS MAY STUDY FOR FREE IN AUSTRIA

The Austrian Embassy to Bulgaria made a proposal that the Bulgarian students do not pay fees for education in the Austrian universities. That was announced on October 1 from the Burgas Free University, quoted by Dnevnik Daily. The offer was made last week when 40 Bulgarian university rectors had a meeting. They sent a letter back, saying that Austrians in Bulgaria will also study for free. Currently, only one Austrian studies in Bulgaria. The number of Bulgarians studying in Austria is much bigger. It amounts to 2,000. So far, they have paid 20,000 ATS (BGN 3,000) per person. The Council of the Rectors discussed the alternative that from next academic year the master programs in all higher educational institutions becomes paid. At the Council, the rectors also discussed amendments in the Higher Education Law.
