Bulgaria's Unit 6 Switched Off Grid over Technical Failure

The 1,000 MW Unit six at Bulgaria's nuclear power plant Kozloduy, 200 kilometres north of Sofia, was switched off the energy grid Tuesday morning after its operations were suspended due to a technical failure.

Superheated phase of a transformer caused the failure. A surge in radiation was not registered, officials of the N-plant said.

The failure prompted an emergency import of electricity from Romania and Serbia, the Energy Ministry announced.
