US Forces Find Cash, Gems Buried Near Saddam's Birthplace

US forces in Iraq on Thursday has found about USD 8 M, USD 350 M in Iraqi dinars and USD 850,000 in gems buried in the garden of a farmhouse near Tikrit, Saddam Hussein's birthplace. The treasure was discovered in a raid of two farmhouses on Wednesday. The haul - which was put on display at the presidential palace in Tikrit - also included jewels and a passport belonging to Sajida Hussein, Saddam's wife. In addition to the loot, soldiers captured one of Saddam's bodyguards and up to 50 other people believed to be tied to his security or intelligence forces or paramilitary groups.
