Jordan Opened Long-Awaited Elections

Jordanians are to vote in the first elections held since King Abdullah dissolved parliament June 2001. More than 760 candidates are competing for the 110 seats in an expanded legislature. More than two million Jordanians are registered to vote and a public holiday was declared to encourage a high turnout.
