Nearly 50 000 have signed in support of the re-election bid of President Petur Stoyanov. It is nearly three times the number of signatures Stoyanov and his running mate lawyer Neli Koutskova need to get registered as independent candidates for the 11 November elections for president and vice president. Stoyanov and Koutskova already urged people to call off the sign-in campaign and keep their energy for the next stages of the presidential race. A day earlier, the Central Electoral Commission refused to register the initiative committee for Stoyanov`s nomination explaining that its documents were imperfect. They said that the application for registration did not carry the signatures of all initiative committee members as the rules require but instead a list with the signatures with notarial certification was enclosed in a separate folder. According to CEC, it made two, and not one, document. The Stoyanov/Koutskova election HQ claimed that all requirements have been met.
