NOVA TV TO LAY OFF 20 % OF ITS EMPLOYEES

`Twenty per cent of the Sofia`s Nova TV employees, owned by Antena Group of Greece, will be laid off, ` Georgios Douvletis, Antena Executive Director, said on September 26. The measure is a consequence of the revocation of the station`s nationwide license. In July, the Supreme Administrative Court overruled the decision of the Council of Ministers, which awarded Nova TV with a license to build, maintain and operate a nationwide TV broadcasting network for 15 years. Antena Group won the license after competitive bidding. The Supreme Administrative Court decision cannot be appealed. `The lawyers working on the case consider the possibility to refer the case to an International Law Court,` Silva Zourleva, Chairman of the Board of Directors said. Antena Bulgaria owns a 99 % of Nova TV while a Cyprus-registered company owns 1 %.
