17 Injuries in Paris Blast

Some seventeen injuries have been reported after an apparent gas explosion rocked a building in a residential area of central Paris. Fire and police officials said the explosion was likely caused by gas and was not deliberate. Some 140 fire fighters were at the scene trying to free victims from the building, which contained offices for lawyers, accountants and telecommunications firms. The blast occurred at 11:52 a.m. in Rue d'Uzes, close to the Paris stock exchange building in the second arrondissement.
